Reputed journalist confirms Chelsea are not after this Man City star

Chelsea not interested in Manchester City star Sergio Aguero, Erling Haaland remains priority

BILD journalist Christian Falk has denied rumours that Chelsea want Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero, stating that Erling Haaland remains the club’s primary transfer target.

Earlier this week, Aguero was linked with a move to the Blues as the Argentine nears the end of his contract at The Etihad. But those links have been quashed by Falk.

And it is indeed Borussia Dortmund ace, Erling Haaland, who remains the centre of attention for the club going into the summer window. The Norwegian has 31 goals already this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

But Chelsea are not the club keen to sign him. The interest for the former Molde striker also comes from Barcelona, PSG, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.

Battle for Haaland

Haaland is the hottest prospect in Europe as he has taken the continent by storm since his switch from RB Salzburg in January 2020. And the hitman is just 20 years old right now.

Chelsea need an injection of goals in their team with Timo Werner not being in the best goal-scoring form. The German striker arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer but has failed to hit the ground running with just 1 goal in his last 20 league games.

The Blues’ top-scorers in the Premier League this season are Jorginho and Tammy Abraham, with 6 goals each as of now. That is a statistic that has to improve going into next season.

Thomas Tuchel has really made Chelsea’s defence a brick wall since his arrival in January. But the attacking output has not been the best, and there is no doubt that signing Haaland would go a long in trying to fix that.
