“The better team” – Diego Simeone heaps the praise on Tuchel’s Chelsea after UCL exit

Diego Simeone admits how good Chelsea have been

According to Football.london, Diego Simeone had some words of praise after his team’s loss to Chelsea in the Champions League.

Diego Simeone was particularly impressed with Chelsea and how they dealt with his Atleti side over two legs. Chelsea won both the games to win the tie on a 3-0 aggregate. Goals from Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri were enough to close the tie in the second leg.

“We tried to go and press them, but they were able to get out of it, and we could not keep up with them. You have to congratulate your opponents when they are the better team. We tried to press them up the field, worked hard. We couldn’t attack the way we like.”

If that was not enough, another high profile manager, Carlo Ancelotti also spoke about how Chelsea outclassed his Everton side earlier this month.

“They played better than us. They deserved to win. We were good defensively for 30 minutes. When they scored the game became difficult for us. They are a good team.”
