Transfer News: Chelsea have reportedly missed out on David Alaba
According to transfer news from Sky Germany (h/t Football.london), Chelsea have missed out on the signing of David Alaba. The Bayern Munich star has rejected the chance to move to Chelsea this summer.
David Alaba confirmed earlier this year that he would be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of this season upon the expiry of his contract. While there were no hints of which would be his next club, the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool were interested in him.
Chelsea view Alaba as a replacement for the ageing Thiago Silva, who is already 36. While Chelsea were said to be ahead in the race to sign him, they have been knocked back.
Thomas Tuchel is said to have tried to convince Alaba to join him at Stamford Bridge but the answer was a no from the Austrian stalwart. However, it not just Chelsea who have been refuted by Alaba.
Tuchel’s former side PSG have also been passed up by him. It has been said that the defender is keen on a move to La Liga.
