Chelsea summer signing shares lofty ambitions as the Blues prepare for crunch FA Cup quarter-final

Kai Havertz reveals his Chelsea ambitions ahead of FA Cup quarter-final encounter

Chelsea midfielder, Kai Havertz, was speaking with the official Chelsea club media and revealed that he aims to win trophies at Chelsea, including the FA Cup.

The Blues are scheduled to take on Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-final of the FA Cup. And remembering the heartbreak of last year, Havertz would like to go one better and win a domestic cup competition this year.

The midfielder reached the final of the DFB-Pokal, which is the German equivalent of the FA Cup, last season. He even netted against Bayern Munich, but his team lost the final by a 4-2 scoreline.

He mentions that the craze around the domestic cup competition is similar in Germany. And despite a crushing loss, the final remains a good memory for the 21-year-old midfielder.

“It’s the same in Germany, it’s a very big competition… We got to the final, we lost against Bayern but it was a very good experience for us. It was a very big game and as a footballer, you like to play these games.”

Targeting big things

He is now 2 games away from making another domestic cup final as Chelsea have the Blades in front of them. A win on Sunday will send the Blues within 2 steps of winning a trophy, which is consistent with Havertz’s ambitions at Chelsea.

“It’s a big ambition of mine to win trophies at Chelsea. When you play for Chelsea you always want to win trophies. We have to go into every game like it’s a final. There’s no second chance.”

Havertz was one of the many incomings for Chelsea last summer. But he was the one who cost them the most as a club record fee costing as much as £89m was agreed for him.

And the expectations that such a transfer amount brings from a player would be sure to propel Havertz’s desire of winning silverware at the club even more.
