Jorginho explained the key difference between Lampard and Tuchel
According to Express, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho outlined some stark differences in how they played under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel. The Italian claimed that the tactics we are using now are much better than how they were playing under Frank Lampard.
Chelsea have shown a marked improvement since Tuchel took over in January. They are in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and Champions League while also climbing up to fourth place in the league.
During that time, Chelsea have displayed remarkable robustness as we have been one of the harder teams to crack open.
Jorginho, who has become a regular now under Tuchel, spoke about how better the football is than what it was under Lampard.
“The coach wants us having control of the game, playing from behind, even when the pressure comes. So, for me, it’s a good way to play football that I like and enjoy, and I think it’s better for my characteristics than playing long balls, and second balls.
“When it’s Kova [Mateo Kovacic], his style is to play short, to come, so I know if he wants to play one-two or when he wants some space to move forward and to dribble. So, I just try to help him.”
It feels like a huge dig at former manager Frank Lampard and his style of play. Frankly, the Chelsea icon did not have the tactical nous of Tuchel, who is a more seasoned manager.
