Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to avoid PSG in the quarterfinals of the Champions League
According to Daily Star, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to avoid facing PSG in the quarter-final draw of the Champions League. The Blues earned a place in the last 8 of the continental competition with a win over Atletico Madrid but their manager wants to avoid facing his former side in the next round.
Chelsea won the first leg 1-0, courtesy of an Olivier Giroud goal while Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmier scored in the second leg for a 2-0 win. A one-sided affair as Atletico hardly troubled Chelsea.
After 2014, this is the only instance when Chelsea have made it to the last 8, often faltering in the last few years. However, the competition only gets tougher as the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Porto, Real Madrid and Paris St. Germain await.
Of all those sides, it is Tuchel’s former side PSG that he wants to avoid in the next round.
“The draw? I am not sure that I want to come across PSG because they are strong.”

The Parisians thrashed Barcelona 5-2 on aggregate, with Kylian Mbappe scoring four. They were also without their talisman Neymar. However, the now Chelsea boss will be wary of what his old side can produce, having gone all the way to the final last season under his tutelage.
It could also work to his advantage given he knows PSG so well and he can actually mastermind a win if we are drawn against them.
