Mahmoud Dahoud of Borussia Dortmund attracting interest from Chelsea and Manchester City
A report by Daily Mail mentions that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud is a transfer target for Chelsea.
Along with the Blues, Manchester City are said to be leading the race for the German central midfielder. But City and Chelsea aren’t the only Premier League clubs after him.
Tottenham Hotspur and Everton also share an interest in Dahoud. But the Blues’ links with the midfielder goes back to his Borussia Monchengladbach days.
Dortmund signed Dahoud from fellow Bundesliga club in 2017 while current Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, was in charge at Signal Iduna Park. Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Barcelona were all keen on him then.
A great option in midfield
But he opted to go to Dortmund and signed a 5-year contract with the club. That deal is now in the final stages and will expire in the summer of 2022, thus making Dahoud more attractive to pursuers. (h/t Daily Mail)
The 25-year-old has had a shaky start to this season but has finally found his footing in the team. He was not getting any game time initially but has now featured in the last 7 games for Dortmund in all competitions.
That has also resulted in a change in fortune for the Black and Yellow as they have just lost once in that time and made the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Syrian-born midfielder himself scored twice during that time.
This included a goal against Sevilla in their 5-4 aggregate win in the last-16 stages of the UCL. Dahoud is an able midfielder that can slot in Chelsea’s midfield with little to no difficulty.
