Chelsea star explains how Tuchel’s rotation plan has benefitted the team

Ben Chilwell says that competition for places is benefitting everyone

Speaking to the official website, Chelsea ace Ben Chilwell spoke out on the rotation policy being followed by Thomas Tuchel and how it is benefitting everyone. So far, Thomas Tuchel has been in charge of 12 games, in which we have won 8 and drawn 4.

The Blues have surged up the Premier League table, gone into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup while also holding an advantage in the round of 16 of the Champions League. One of the distinct features of Tuchel’s sides during this time has been the rotation of personnel.

Many players who were sidelined under Frank Lampard were brought back from the cold. Players such as Marcos Alonso and Antonio Rudiger are now a regular part of the side.

Tuchel has rotated between several players in each game and while that has meant that game time has reduced for the previous regulars, it has given everyone a fair chance.

Ben Chilwell spoke about the same and felt that this step has benefitted the whole team.

‘The manager has come in and every weekend going into the game no one knows who is going to be starting and in what position, and that is a positive thing because we have a massive squad of very talented players who are all fighting for 11 spots.

‘That just brings the best out in all of us because in training everyone is fighting for one of those starting shirts. That is why coming into the weekend we are sharp and defensively we are doing well, and that is why we are unbeaten.’

Even Chilwell has seen his regular spot under competition, with Marcos Alonso getting games. However, both have done well in the games they have been called upon. It is good to see that Tuchel’s methods are working and that the team is taking to his philosophy.
