Jurgen Klopp provides injury news ahead of Liverpool vs Chelsea

Jurgen Klopp provided some injury news prior to Liverpool’s midweek clash with Chelsea (h/t Mirror). The top-four hopefuls are set to take on each other on 4th March. Liverpool are coming off a win over Sheffield United while Chelsea got held to a draw by Manchester United.

The Reds’ boss is set to get a triple boost with the likes of Alisson, Fabinho and Diogo Jota returning to action. Alisson was allowed a compassionate leave from the Sheffield game due to the tragic death of his father.

Fabinho was out with an injury while Jota was a long-term absentee since last December. Jota was supposed to return in the last game but an illness prevented him from doing so. Post the Sheffield United win, Klopp provided an update on the trio.

“Alisson and Fabinho, I am pretty sure [they can play]. With Diogo, he was with us last night in the hotel, but he got sick overnight and we had to send him home. So it will depend how quickly he recovers, obviously.

“He wasn’t in the squad, but he’s trained with the team before [last week] and looked really good, like I said before. I would think that Diogo is ready for Thursday, but I don’t know at the moment. Fabinho trained twice with the team and should be pretty close for the squad, I am sure. That is it pretty much.”

While the Reds are by no means an easy side to deal with, the return of their vital players would only add to the difficulty. Chelsea are still unbeaten under Tuchel but could have their hands full against Liverpool.
