Tammy Abraham unwilling to discuss a new deal with Chelsea
According to The Athletic (h/t Daily Mail), Tammy Abraham is unwilling to discuss a new deal with Chelsea and could be on his way out. It has been said that the lanky striker does not want to start contract talks when Chelsea are openly pursuing Erling Haaland.
Abraham broke into the first-team last season under Frank Lampard and was a vital part of the side that finished fourth. However, the England international has seen his place slip down after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.
His current deal runs until 2023. The main reasons for Abraham unwillingness to talk about a new deal are understood to be reduced game time under Tuchel and Chelsea’s open pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
It is assumed that Chelsea are one of the clubs that Mino Raiola could be talking about that can afford Haaland. Chelsea are likely to go for Haaland despite signing Timo Werner this season. However, it is understandable since Werner has struggled badly since joining the Blues.
There has been a recall of Olivier Giroud to the first-team picture with Abraham seemingly not being given enough chances under Tuchel. Giroud made his case stronger for a starting role with a splendid overhead kick which turned out to be the winner against Atletico Madrid.

It makes sense for Abraham to consider his options because, upon Haaland’s potential arrival, the Englishman will pretty much be relegated to the bench. However, with a few more years on his deal, Chelsea do have some time to figure out what to do with Tammy in case they do end up signing Haaland.
