Jose Mourinho ignored Mohamed Salah at Chelsea despite him training as well as Messi
Speaking to Daily Mail, former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis claimed that Jose Mourinho shunned Mohamed Salah during their time at the club despite Salah’s efforts in training. Salah was said to have been training like Lionel Messi but Mourinho could never get the most out of the Egyptian.
Luis opened up on his time at Chelsea in the interview. He held talks with Mourinho regarding his move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea. After the first game on the bench, he went ahead and asked why Mourinho brought him to the club.
Mourinho defended his selection citing Cesar Azpilicueta gave him more solidity in defence and Luis has to win his place in the side. While Luis accepted that he wasn’t playing well, he felt that he needed to play to get back in form.
Luis also talked about how shocked he was to find that Salah would be leaving the club. Salah was allowed to leave for Fiorentina on loan and then Roma on a permanent basis.
“It might look like we fell out but I admire him. I won the league with him. But he didn’t get the best out of me, just as he didn’t with Salah.
When he went Fiorentina, I said: ‘Why are you going, Momo? This is Chelsea.’ And he said: ‘I need to play.’ I thought: ‘This kid’s good. He never went for money or to win more; he went to show he could play. In training he was like Messi. Really, like Messi. Ask anyone.”

Obviously, Mourinho came out to claim that he was not at fault for Salah’s departure. He said that the club decided to sell him even though he was signed by Mourinho. He added that people knew him as the coach who sold Salah but he was actually the one who brought him to the club.
