“You’ve got to have faith” – PL managers present and former react as Lampard is sacked

Premier League managers react to the news of Chelsea sacking Frank Lampard

A report by Daily Mail confirmed the sacking of Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager due to the club’s drop in form which has seen the team drop to 9th in the table.

It further states that former PSG and Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is in line to replace Lampard. The announcement is expected to come within the next 24 hours.

And Premier League managers have had their say on Chelsea’s decision. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola offered his sympathies to Lampard and wants to take him out to eat once the lockdown is over.

“I respect the decision by Chelsea, but I hope to see Frank soon and go to a restaurant with him when lockdown is finished.”

Former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp criticised Chelsea for their ‘knee-jerk’ reaction.

He said Lampard just needed time and he was having a bad spell, just like Klopp, Solskjaer, and Arteta have had as well. (h/t Metro)

“People need time. Losing four or five games doesn’t suddenly make you a bad manager! Surely you’ve got to have more faith in people.”

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson also had his say on the sacking. He said that he expected the Chelsea ‘legend’ would get more time at the helm than 18 months. (h/t Mirror)

“It saddens me. I thought he did an excellent job last season.”

Premier League managers in unison over Chelsea decision

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter said that Lampard’s sacking is just part and parcel of management at this level.

He praises the Englishman’s courage and predicts that the Chelsea hero will be back managing a club in the near future. (h/t Independent)

I am sure we will see him back in football soon. As with anybody in football, I wish Thomas Tuchel well if he replaces him.”

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers maintained his view of the Chelsea squad. He says that the Blues squad needed time, and that Lampard’s sacking is premature in that regard. (h/t Express)

“I said it last week, it’s just a team and a squad that needs time. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been given that time.”

More Chelsea News:

There is one thing in common with what they all have to say. Lampard probably needed a little more time but Abramovich is not really known for his patience.
