A report by the official Chelsea football club website states that centre-forward Charlie Brown has joined MK Dons on a permanent basis.
The Blues signed Brown from Ipswich Town’s youth academy in the summer of 2016. He went on to spend four and a half years at the club before his move away to MK Dons.
Brown started his Chelsea career in incredible fashion. He scored 10 times and assisted once for the U-18 team in his first season at the club.
The super-sub came off the bench 16 times that season and cemented his position in the team for the next campaign. His highlight at Chelsea came in 2018, when he was the member of a quadruple winning Blues U-18 team.
He netted in the FA Youth Cup semi-final against Birmingham City and was on target to score both goals in a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the U-18 Premier League Cup final. (h/t Chelsea FC website)
Brown then spent his next two seasons predominantly featuring for the U-23 side. Brown also netted 12 times in Europe for the U-19 Chelsea team which made the 2019 UEFA Youth League final.
Brown never made the Chelsea first-team. But he did make 3 appearances for the senior team of Belgian side Union SG in the second half of last season as he saw out his loan spell in Brussels.
The 21-year-old striker seems upbeat upon joining his new club. Speaking to MKDons.com after completing his move, he conveyed his excitement at this new opportunity.
“I’m over the moon to be here. This is an opportunity I’ve been waiting for and I can’t wait to get on the pitch and show the fans what I can do.”
Let’s hope that the youngster fulfils his potential with the League One side.
