Thomas Tuchel set to take over as the new Chelsea manager
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Thomas Tuchel is all set to take over as the new Chelsea boss.
The 47-year-old is a free agent after parting ways with Ligue 1 giants PSG last month. He led the French champions to the Champions League final last season. The German has already accepted the club’s offer and will sign a contract in the coming hours.
Tuchel is an able tactician who is known to create systems that get the best out of his players.
The 47-year-old is an experienced manager with spells at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund. He is not keen to take a sabbatical and was interested in managing at the Bridge if given the opportunity. It would appear that the time is now.
According to German publication Bild (h/t Daily Mail), Tuchel is keen on working alongside German stars Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Antonio Rudiger.
All three players have struggled this season and it remains to be seen if Tuchel will be the man to rekindle their fortunes.
The likes of Ousmane Dembele, Christian Pulisic, and Julian Weigl all experienced great progress under Tuchel at Dortmund. Hopefully, he can also get our promising youngsters to the next level.
Chelsea were also keen on RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann and Italian tactician Massimiliano Allegri. The former will not be let to leave mid-season while the latter is exploring other options.

It is unfortunate that a club legend such as Frank Lampard had to be fired. However, it cannot be denied that he took the Blues job a tad too soon in his career.
At the very least, he got to leave the club on the back of a win against Luton Town. It will be interesting to see where Lampard ends up next.
