Scott Parker expects Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek to fulfil promise
According to Football.london, Fulham boss Scott Parker has backed Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek to continue developing as a player at Craven Cottage.
The versatile midfielder is currently at Fulham on a season-long loan. So far he has made 11 appearances, scoring one goal.(h/t Transfermarkt)
His performances have blown hot and cold, frustrating a number of supporters. Parker, however, believes the player is coming into his own and will help the Cottagers in front of the goal.
“I see him getting better and better with each game.”
Fulham have scored just 13 goals in 15 games, the fourth-lowest in the Premier League. They are three points off safety but do have two games in hand.
Loftus-Cheek looked to be on his way to making it into the Chelsea first-team before injuries stopped him in his tracks. In fact, his current run at Craven Cottage is the longest since his return.
“Ruben’s been out for some time – this is probably the only consistent run of games he’s had over the last 18 months.”
Parker is well aware of it and admits the player is improving. The midfielder is still getting to know his surroundings and will hopefully show more of his abilities in the coming months.
The Fulham boss views Loftus-Cheek as a gamechanger. The player certainly has the ability to not only score goals but also impact proceedings on the field.
“Goals, assists, grabbing games by the scruff of the neck – these are all elements of Ruben’s game that he can do. There’s only a handful of players you can probably say that about, so it just shows you the capabilities he has.”
There is clearly a lot of expectations from Loftus-Cheek. Hopefully, he will repay Parker’s faith with his on-field performances.

A product of the Blues’ youth academy, Loftus-Cheek has shown plenty of promise in his fledgling career so far. The midfielder has racked up 82 senior appearances for the club to date, scoring 12 goals in the process.
He will, hopefully, return to the Bridge having rediscovered his best at the end of the season.
