AC Milan enter the race for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori
According to The Guardian, AC Milan have entered the race for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.
The Rossoneri are currently on top of Serie A and are looking to strengthen their defence. Given Tomori’s limited opportunities at Chelsea, loaning him for the remainder of the season is being seen as a viable alternative.
Tomori once again missed out on the starting XI in our FA Cup tie over Morecambe at the weekend. The fact that he did so even after Andreas Christensen’s injury showcases his standing at the club.
With game time hard to come by, his development has somewhat stalled. A move to new pastures could open the way to new opportunities.
Milan’s interest in Tomori is dependent on their pursuit of Mohamed Simakan. The Strasbourg youngster has been one of Ligue 1’s best talents this season and has also attracted attention from Stamford Bridge.
With RB Leipzig also pushing for Simakan’s signature, Milan could well opt for Tomori if they miss out.
Not lacking for options!
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is also open to the idea of Tomori leaving on loan. At 23, he is the club’s fifth choice centre-back as things stand.
The prospect of a move will also come as good news to the player, who is keen to leave in January. Whether it does come to fruition or not remains to be seen.
Even if Milan does decide to pass on him, all is not lost for Tomori. The defender has also attracted attention from Newcastle United and Leeds United.
