Chelsea among five teams in the race for Ecuadorian starlet Moises Caicedo
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are among five clubs in the race to land Ecuadodian wonderkid Moises Caicedo. They will, however, need to act fast to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old has been turning heads with his performances for Independiente del Valle. He is said to model his game on N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba.
A versatile player, he can function both as a box-to-box midfielder and also as a defensive midfielder.
While he is unlikely to break through to the Chelsea first-team right away, Caicedo is talented enough to be nurtured into a special player in the coming years.
Premier League rivals Manchester United appeared to be the team likely to put up the biggest challenge to us securing him. While Caicedo has mentioned United to be his favourite club, there has been a lack of progress regarding a move to Old Trafford.
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed that the Red Devils do not hold the advantage when it comes to negotiations. In fact, they appear to have completely dropped out of the race.
West Ham United, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and MLS side Atlanta United are all keen on Caicedo. The Seagulls have also made an offer for the player that Independiente are open to accepting.
With personal terms yet to be agreed, there is still an opening for Chelsea to make their move. Whether we can do that or not remains to be seen.
