Carlo Ancelotti urges Chelsea to give Frank Lampard time to turn things around
Carlo Ancelotti is well aware of the noose hanging over the head of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
Having served in the Stamford Bridge hot-seat for two years, Ancelotti led the Blues to two major honours. With 67 wins from 109 games, the Italian ended his second season with the third-highest win percentage in Premier League history.
It did little to impress Roman Abramovich, who fired Ancelotti at the end of his second season. Lampard could find himself in a similar situation if he does not turn around the club’s fortunes fast.
The Blues boss is currently the bookies favourite to be the next Premier League manager to get the sack. Having lost four of his last six games in charge, the onus is on Lampard to turn it around.
Speaking to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mirror), Ancelotti has urged Chelsea to give Lampard the time he needs to turn things around.
“They’ve bought a lot of players in the summer and in this case, like at Juventus, there needs to be patience, a rare commodity in football.”
Having brought in a number of players in the summer, it is bound to take time for them all to settle down. Any change in management now could set us back.
Lampard revealed earlier this season that Ancelotti has been one of the biggest influences in his short managerial career. The vote of confidence from the Italian will hopefully spur Lampard on. (h/t Sky Sports)
Chelsea are still six points off top spot with a majority of the season still to play. Putting together a good run could see us get back in the conversation for the top. The sooner Lampard manages to do that, the easier he can breathe.

Lampard’s success last season coupled with his legendary status at the club could offer him leeway that would have been otherwise denied. As things stand Chelsea are set to give him the time he needs to turn things around.
How long that is will be anyone’s guess.
