“Trying to reach that” – Lampard responds to Klopp’s claims about Chelsea’s title chances

Frank Lampard plays down Jurgen Klopp making Chelsea Premier League favourites

According to Football.london, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has responded to Jurgen Klopp making the Blues favourites for the title.

The Liverpool boss believes Chelsea have the strength in depth that can help them negotiate what looks to be a competitive race for the title.

“I don’t think we think much of it..”

The comeback win against Leeds United at the weekend saw us go top at least briefly. Whilst both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have since overtaken us, they are within touching distance.

Rather than fire back at Klopp, Lampard has taken a measured approach in replying to the German tactician. He is only keen to follow in the footsteps of what Liverpool and Manchester City have achieved in recent seasons.

“We are trying to reach that.”

Lampard to his credit did not attempt to downplay the club’s chances either. He admitted that the team is in good form right now despite the addition of new faces.

” I think where we are at, we are in good form, but we have players who have come in and City and Liverpool have had a lot of success for long periods.”

Our summer signings have all looked impressive so far and have massively strengthened us. There is more balance in the Chelsea side as compared to the defensively open one we saw last season.

Given the maturity we have shown so far, it would be foolish to write off our chances. However, there is still a long way to go and much to be played for.
