Lampard confirms injury boost as key star is set to be available for Wolves

Frank Lampard provides a timely injury boost as Christian Pulisic is fit for selection

Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t Metro), Frank Lampard provided a positive injury update on Christian Pulisic before Chelsea travel to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this week.

Earlier this season, Pulisic was sidelined for a month with a hamstring injury. He made his return to action in the 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last week.

However, the American winger was absent from the Chelsea squad this weekend. Chelsea lost 1-0 to Everton at Goodison Park and Pulisic was not named in the matchday squad.

It is believed that a minor hamstring problem caused him to be sidelined. Nevertheless, Lampard has confirmed that the winger will feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers this week.

“He trained when we played against Everton on that day and it’s felt better, so he’s in the squad for tomorrow.”

Despite the good news about his availability, Lampard is hesitant if he would be able to start the match.

“Yet to be decided if he starts or not but it’s obviously positive news.”

The Blues earlier lost Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech through injury. In the context of two creative first-team players being out, Pulisic’s availability for the Wolves game is welcome news for the club. (h/t Metro)

When asked if Chelsea will play a different formation with Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi both out, Lampard denied it.

Chelsea’s loss to Everton at the weekend was just our second Premier League loss of the season.

The result, however, did not prove to be too damaging as both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool dropped points as well.

Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at Fulham while Spurs drew their match against Crystal Palace by the same scoreline.

However, the Blues did drop to 5th in the table as Leicester City and Southampton won their games.
