“Unfortunately” Lampard cancels Christmas off as he urges Chelsea stars to focus on Arsenal

Boxing Day clash against Arsenal takes precedence for Chelsea boss Frank Lampard

According to the Express, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has urged his players to forget about Christmas and focus on the match against Arsenal on Boxing Day.

The Blues snapped a two-match losing streak in the win against West Ham United on Monday night. They will now look to keep the run going when they face the Gunners next.

“We’ll be preparing right and Christmas Day is pretty much off for everyone unfortunately this year.”

Arsenal, meanwhile, have suffered a fall from grace and are struggling to stay relevant in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners have won just one of their last 10 Premier League games and could be sucked into the relegation dogfight, however improbable that may sound.

Lampard, however, is taking nothing for granted and is keen to ensure all bases are covered in regards to our preparation.

“Arsenal is a tough game. People might talk and look at Arsenal and the position they’re in.”

We last faced Arsenal in the 2019/20 FA Cup final

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since the FA Cup final last season. While Arsenal got the better of us that time, a win will be sure to ensure Gunners fans will have a forgettable festive season.

The match also provides an opportunity for Timo Werner to end his nine-match goalless streak. With Arsenal there for the taking, it remains to be seen if the German can rediscover his scoring boots.
