Chelsea unwilling to sanction loan move for 19-year-old starlet despite multiple offers

Chelsea want to hold onto Faustino Anjorin despite multiple loan offers

A report by The Athletic states that Chelsea are unwilling to loan out Faustino Anjorin as they have plans for him to get more minutes in 2021.

The teenager has burst onto the scene in the past year. He made his senior team debut in August 2019 when he came on against Grimsby Town in a 7-1 FA Cup 3rd round win.

A Premier League debut came for Anjorin last season on matchday 29. Anjorin was subbed on to play on the left flank in the final 19 minutes of their 4-0 win against Everton.

And a full debut finally arrived for the Chelsea youth academy product this season. Anjorin started in the 1-1 draw against Russian side FC Krasnodar in the Champions League group stages. (h/t Transfermarkt)

One for the future

Chelsea wish to keep Anjorin at Stamford Bridge after the end of the January transfer window. The club has received offers from lower-placed Premier League tables, Championship sides, as well as clubs abroad.

The 19-year-old winger has impressed with his performances for the developmental team, and Chelsea see him getting more minutes in the second half of the season.

On top of that, the club wants him as cover for Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic, who have all had injury troubles this season. (h/t The Athletic)

It would definitely be the right decision to keep Anjorin if the winger manages to get minutes this season. Training with elite players will also up his game even further.

However, the move could prove to be counter-productive if he stays with the U-23 Chelsea side. There might be a team that could offer him first-team minutes and Frank Lampard needs to be wise in handling the English starlet.
