Manchester giants make an offer for Chelsea target David Alaba
According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Express), Manchester United and Manchester City have both made a formal offer for Chelsea target David Alaba.
The Austrian superstar has been a key member of a dominant Bayern Munich side that has won numerous titles in the past few seasons.
With his contract set to expire next summer, he is free to come to a pre-contract agreement with other clubs from January. The prospect of securing such a player on a free is not something we should overlook.
Alaba’s situation has drawn attention from a number of Europe’s top sides. Continental superclubs Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG are all keen on the player’s signature.
With contract negotiations having broken down, Alaba looks increasingly likely to leave the Allianz Arena next summer. (h/t Football.london)
A versatile player who can play in a variety of positions, Alaba is also a skilled handler of the dead ball. He would add dynamism to a Blues backline that has benefitted immensely from summer additions.
Bayern, for their part, are keen to keep hold of Alaba. It was revealed by the club’s chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that the Bavarians were keen for an answer by October. (h/t Express)
He admits Bayern made him an offer that show their appreciation for the player. However that was rejected and it remains unknown if negotiations will resume.
“What I want to be clear about is that our offer showed exactly how much we value him, but he didn’t accept it.”
