Bayern Munich expect David Alaba to leave the club in the summer amidst Chelsea interest
According to German publication Bild via Bavarian Football Works (h/t Football.london), Bayern Munich expects David Alaba to leave the club in the summer amidst interest from Chelsea.
The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent in the summer. The prospect of losing such a veteran player for nothing would be a bitter pill to swallow.
Chelsea have made a number of shrewd deals recently. Capturing the Austrian for free in the summer could be our best one yet, at least in terms of value.
Talks between Alaba and Bayern have broken down. The Bavarians have now retracted any contract that was on the table.
With us just a month away until Alaba is free to talk to other clubs, time is running out for the German giants to come to an agreement. All this augurs well for the Blues who have a window of opportunity here.
Signing Alaba would further strengthen a Blues defence that has benefited from the addition of fresh blood. The likes of Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, and Edouard Mendy have had a noticeable impact on our backline.
A versatile plyer who can play a variety of positions, Alaba is also a skilled handler of the dead ball.
The player is represented by superagent Pini Zahavi. He shares a good relationship with Chelsea and has helped us sign a number of stars in the past. This is something we could try to work to our advantage.
A world-class player, Alaba could be one of the best ever Bosman signings if all goes to plan.

If the deal occurs, Alaba will be the second Bayern star to leave the club in successive summers. Thiago Alcantara joined Liverpool earlier this year after leading the German giants to another treble.
While they recouped what they could for Thiago, losing Alaba would get them nothing. It remains to be seen if Marina Granovskaia will once again come out of a transfer window with her reputation enhanced.
