Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud could move to West Ham United in January

An interview from Alex Crook of TalkSPORT (h/t Daily Star) revealed that West Ham United could be interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.

Giroud recently netted 4 goals against Sevilla in Chelsea’s win 4-0 win in Seville, where he became the oldest player (h/t Daily Star) to score a UEFA Champions League hat-trick.

That game was only his second start of the season for Chelsea, and the Frenchman would have been dejected to hear Lampard say that it was still not enough to grant him a start against Leeds United. (h/t Daily Star)

It is now understood that Giroud could move to London club West Ham United in January in order to secure game time as the 2020 UEFA European Championship next summer draws near.

TalkSPORT insider Alex Crook said in an interview that West Ham United may hold the edge over Tottenham Hotspur, another club interested in signing Giroud, as the Hammers would not be considered a ‘direct rival’.

“I know there’s interest from West Ham United. David Moyes is a huge admirer of Giroud and clubs abroad as well. I suppose where West Ham would have the edge over someone like Tottenham for example, who have also shown an interest in the past, is that they wouldn’t be viewed as direct rivals.”

Giroud has been at Stamford Bridge for the past three and a half seasons where the Frenchman has netted 34 goals in nearly a 100 games.

Unfortunately for him, the 34-year-old has found starts at Chelsea few and far in between in recent years as he has started just twice for the Blues so far this season.

Giroud could also only muster 17 starts from 55 games last season for Chelsea, but Lampard indicated why he has chosen to keep him at the club as he praised him after the win against Sevilla.

“That’s the main thing”: Chelsea star sends Lampard a message regarding game time

Callum Hudson-Odoi sends a message to Frank Lampard over his game-time

According to Football.London, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has opened up on the lack of regular game-time under Frank Lampard this season.

The 20-year-old Englishman, a product of the Chelsea youth academy, has had difficulties in nailing down a starting berth for himself ever since he burst onto the scenes in the 2018/19 season under Maurizio Sarri.

Off-field problems have played a part in Hudson-Odoi’s inability to kick on and fulfil his immense potential. In addition, a lack of consistency has also been a problem for the England international.

However, Hudson-Odoi has impressed in his recent matches this season and is slowly starting to grow into a vital player for us. So far this term, the 20-year-old winger has five goals and two assists in all competitions.

Speaking ahead of our Premier League game against Fulham, Hudson-Odoi has insisted that he needs to keep smiling and working hard, while making the most of the opportunities that come his way.

“No – I’m trying hard in training every day, I’m giving 110 per cent in training and in games. No matter when the opportunity comes, I’m going to try and continue to do my best and contribute to the team – scoring and assisting.

“Hopefully more opportunities will come. I’m always smiling – that’s the main thing. I like to smile, be positive no matter the situation.”

So far this term, Hudson-Odoi has started two just Premier League matches. Given that we have the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner fighting for the starting berths in the wide areas, the competition is naturally intense.

However, Hudson-Odoi has shown in the past few games in that he has the quality to go toe-to-toe with the world-class stars. Hopefully, he is now able to go on a consistent run and become a regular in the side.

Chelsea star Ben Chilwell urges patience amid a poor run of form in Premier League

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has insisted that there must be patience as the club goes through the process of a rebuild.

After a transfer ban in 2019, Chelsea went heavy in the last summer window, bringing in a host of top stars. And while things began on a promising note, the results have deteriorated in recent weeks, especially in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard’s men have lost four of their last six league games, picking up just one. This has seen the team slide down to the ninth place in the PL standings, inviting pressure on the manager.

Chilwell, however, has insisted that while there need to be improvements, the team needs time to gel completely and it is important to be patient.

“It’s a process and it was always going to be difficult to win things straight away. We want to do that as soon as possible but it was never going to be a smooth journey.”

The England international further added that the recent results had been a humbling experience and has made the squad refocused as they look to put an end to the run.

“This little blip has refocused us all, we’re working even harder and it’s humbled us a little bit. It’s a very different and difficult season with everything that’s going on but the important thing now is we just get back to winning ways.”
