Lampard urges Chelsea stars to keep their feet on the ground following ‘best performance of the season’

Frank Lampard urges Chelsea stars to stay grounded following Sheffield United win

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has urged his players to stay grounded following the impressive win against Sheffield United.

The Blues came back from a goal down to emphatically beat the Blades 4-1 on the night. It saw a slew of fine impressive performances by a number of Chelsea stars. (h/t Daily Mail)

“That was our best performance of the season so far for sure.”

Three points saw us keep up with the teams at the top in what could potentially turn into a tight title race.

Frank Lampard has urged his Chelsea stars to not get carried away despite their good form

The Blues conceded for the first time in seven games where Edouard Mendy started in goal. Rather than wither away, we came back with renewed vigour and grabbed the match by the collar.

Despite the hugely impressive performance, Lampard has urged his players to not get ahead of themselves.

Competing against Manchester City and Liverpool is no mean feat. Lampard admits that despite being in a good position, we will have to keep up the levels to challenge the duo for domestic supremacy. (h/t Daily Mail)

“We’re in a good place, but the level of Liverpool and Manchester City means you have to be in that good place every week.”

Chelsea beat Sheffield United with ease

Both Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have built strong teams that never know when they are beaten. The duo has enjoyed a two-way title challenge for the last two seasons.

Defending champions Liverpool may not have the invincible aura of last season. Moreover, they are also coping with injuries to key players.

But we cannot afford to be complacent. It is a lesson Lamaprd understands well and is keen to impart to his players. (h/t Daily Mail)

Liverpool are formidable opponents

“That’s the gap we have to close so I won’t get carried away with that.”

While we may be closing the gap at the top, we cannot afford to slack off. Every point matters and it is good that our boss is under no illusions.

Summer signings Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Timo Werner were all on target yesterday. While Hakim Ziyech may not have got one himself, he lit up the pitch with two assists.

With Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz still to return, the team is coming along excellently.
