Aston Villa interested in Ross Barkley permanent transfer
According to 90min.com, as relayed by Football.london, Aston Villa are intent on signing on-loan Chelsea star Ross Barkley on a permanent transfer after his impressive start to life at Villa Park.
The 26-year-old has been on the books at Chelsea since January 2018 having arrived from Everton. However, the midfielder was never quite able to establish himself as a regular in the first-team at the Bridge.
And, following the arrivals of Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech in the summer, Barkley was pushed further down the pecking order.
The 26-year-old ended up sealing a loan move to Aston Villa late in the transfer window and has made quite the impression.
Before going off injured against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier today, the England international had managed to score two goals and create one for his teammate as well in six appearances. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Barkley has struck up an exciting partnership with fellow Englishman Jack Grealish, helping Aston Villa punch well above their weights this season. As a result, the Villans are keen on signing him on a permanent basis. (h/t Football.london)

However, it is claimed that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard remains a fan of Barkley and has been in contact with him to praise over recent performances. (h/t Football.london)
At the same time, though, given the strength in depth in the midfield department, the Blues might consider a sale for the right transfer fee. (h/t Football.london)
It remains to be seen if Villa do make an attempt to make his transfer permanent. For now, they will be hoping that Barkley’s injury isn’t a serious one and he returns to action quickly.
