Transfer News: Chelsea look set to miss out on world-class Bosman signing

Chelsea look set to miss out on Gianluigi Donnarumma

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t The Mirror), Chelsea appear to be on the verge of losing out on Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 21-year-old has been a key player for AC Milan for a number of years despite his young age. An already experienced star, the Italian ace has the ability to be one of the best in the business.

Donnarumma has made an impressive 214 appearances for the Rossoneri. He has kept an impressive 77 clean sheets during this time.

The Italian shot-stopper is in the final year of his current deal with Milan. Not renewing terms would have seen him walk away on a free transfer at the end of the current season.

The report however says that Donnarumma is close to agreeing to a new deal with the Rossoneri. Superagent Mino Raiola met with Milan earlier this week, and a €7m-a-year agreement could soon be agreed upon.

Chelsea would have been free to discuss terms with the player in January. It would now appear that he looks set to stay on at the San Siro.

The Blues have made a number of smart buys this summer. It has massively strengthened our squad and has also given us the ammo to build a championship-winning core for the future.

While the goalkeeping department was an open book last season, things have changed since we landed Edouard Mendy.

With the Senegalese star proving himself a dependable option in goal, bringing in a new keeper is not at the top of the agenda at the moment.

Donnarumma is an excellent keeper who has garnered great experience for his age. He can only get better with time and could be at the club for a long time if everything works out.

Whether we will return for him in the future remains to be seen.
