Chelsea to face off against AC Milan for Anel Ahmedodzic
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), Chelsea will battle AC Milan for the signature of Anel Ahmedhodzic.
The Malmo star has emerged as a key player for the Swedish giants this season. This has attracted the attention of both Milan and Chelsea, with a €10m move being mooted. (h/t Football.london)
At 21, the defender is not ready to play a starting role for the first-team. If we do manage to sign him, he will be one to look out for in the future.
The 21-year-old came through the ranks at the Swedish giants before moving to Championship side Nottingham Forest in 2016. During his three years at the Tricky Trees, Anel made just one senior appearance.
He eventually returned to Malmo in 2019. He went on loan to Hobro IK where he was able to showcase his talents on a consistent basis.
Ahmedhodzic has almost 3 years remaining on his current Malmo deal. This gives the Swedish giants the upper hand in negotiations, who can hold out for a big fee. How high Chelsea are willing to go remains to be seen.
The entry of AC Milan will also complicate our chances of landing the youngster. He will have a better chance of making the first-team at San Siro than at Stamford Bridge.
Ahmedhodzic, meanwhile, has continued to develop into a dependable player at Malmo. The defender has started all but one league game for the club this season and bagged two goals in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Although Thiago Silva has improved our backline, he is now 36 and is at best a short-term option. Bringing in Ahmedhoidzic and letting him develop would give us a ready-made option to call upon for when the Brazilian veteran ends his Blues career.
The 21-year-old came through different age groups for Sweden at the international level. He has, however, shifted his allegiance to Bosnia and Herzegovina this year and has made two appearances for them.
