“Kane? I think you are confused. You could be speaking about some Manchester United players, some Man City players, some Liverpool players, some Chelsea players.”

Lampard, however, refused to get drawn into a war of words with his ex-mentor, responding that it was natural for an opposition manager to try and ruffle some feathers with statements like these. (h/t Evening Standard)

“I wasn’t surprised by those comments.  I think it’s very normal that managers in and around the clubs challenging sometimes mention others with those statements. It didn’t affect me.”

It is not new for Mourinho to try and divert attention from his players in order to remove them from the firing line. He used to do it back when he was at Chelsea, and now he’s doing it at Tottenham.
