Chelsea ready to send underused defensive star on loan

Chelsea ready to sanction a loan deal for Emerson Palmieri

According to Area Napoli via Sport Witness (h/t Football.london), Chelsea are ready to sanction a loan deal for Emerson Palmieri.

The most likely destination appears to be Serie A side Napoli. The player too is keen to move to the Italian giants in what he sees as an opportunity to redeem himself.

However, it remains to be seen if it will happen. Emerson is keen to get a pay rise in comparison to the wages he gets at Chelsea.

Napoli are not the only side keen on Emerson. Serie A champions Juventus are also interested in securing the defender’s services.

The Italian international failed to make a mark at the club last season. He appeared to be on his way out, with a number of clubs in the fray for his signature.

Emerson did not move and stayed put at the club. A major reason for this could be the falling out between Frank Lampard and Marcos Alonso.

With the arrival of Ben Chilwell, Emerson has been largely limited to peripheral appearances. Of his three appearances this season, two have come in the Carabao Cup.

Second chances!

Emerson could, however, find himself ahead of Marcos Alonso in the pecking order. Whether the Blues intend to bring the Spaniard back into the fray before loaning Emerson remains to be seen.

Given the peripheral importance he has at Chelsea, him moving to Serie A would give him more opportunities to play. With the Euros set to be held next summer, it would surely help his case in being selected for the Italian squad.
