Henry Lawrence set to sign a new three-year deal at Chelsea
According to Goal’s Nizaar Kinsella (h/t Football.london), Chelsea youngster Henry Lawrence is set to pen a fresh deal at the club.
The 19-year-old will sign a fresh three-year deal, with confirmation expected to be made within the next few days.
Lawrence is highly regarded at Chelsea. He has been involved in the senior side’s training sessions over the last couple of months. It is an excellent indication of the player’s talent given the options at our disposal.
The youngster was a regular for the club’s Under-23 side last season. He was also named on the bench for our trip to Bayern Munich last season.
Lawrence was also added to the club’s Champions League squad. A number of youngsters have broken out at the club under Lampard. It remains to be seen if the 19-year-old will join their ranks.
With the talents at our disposal, players will be hard-pressed to break into the squad. However, if he develops as expected, we could have a real talent on our hands.
Lawrence could be sent out on loan to secure more playing time. According to The Sun, a loan move was planned for the youngster in autumn and maybe explored again in January.
A move to the Championship or to the Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem appears to be the more likely destinations.
A player being noticed
Blues boss Frank Lampard too has a high opinion of Lawrence. He recognized the 19-year-old’s performance in training and spoke highly of him in pre-season.
“Henry Lawrence is training well – then get him over, get him training with us.”
Impressing on loan will help the youngster show Lampard that his faith was not misplaced.

A number of youth players have been loaned out by Chelsea in recent years. While not everyone makes it, the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount among others show that the system can work.
Hopefully, Lawrence too is another success story in the making.
