Mendy sustained a thigh injury in training while on national duty with Senegal. Chelsea are set to make a late call on the goalkeeper’s fitness.

In the event that he does miss out, Willy Caballero is expected to get the nod over Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spaniard played in the country’s friendly against Spain, where he kept a clean sheet.

Interestingly, he was picked over for David de Gea for both of Spain’s Nations League fixtures. It would appear he is not the first-choice keeper anymore for the club and country.

On a positive note, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are expected to be fit. The American international came off the bench against Crystal Palace last time out.

This was his first appearance since going off injured in the FA Cup final last season against Arsenal. Ziyech, on the other hand, will be making his competitive debut for the Blues.

The Moroccan was sidelined after picking up an injury in the pre-season friendly against Brighton. He featured for his country against Senegal and even grabbed an assist.
