Chelsea deny there is bad blood between Frank Lampard and N’Golo Kante
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have dismissed talk that star midfielder N’Golo Kante is on his way out of the club in January.
The Frenchman is one of the best midfielders in the league. Arguably the best defensive midfielder on his day, Kante is currently away on national duty with France.
It was earlier reported by French publication Le Parisien (h/t Daily Mail) that the player was unhappy with Blues boss Frank Lampard. This stems from an incident where he was denied time off from training to attend a friend’s wedding.
It went on to add that the player is now keen to move to Real Madrid with his representative keen to work out a deal in the coming year. This is despite the fact that there has not been any concrete interest from the Spanish side in Kante.
A Chelsea spokesman has however put the matter to rest by denying any such truth in the story.
“This story is total nonsense.”
Both Lampard and Kante came into the 2020/21 season on good terms. the Frenchman was also permitted to go on compassionate leave following his misgivings on returning to training after the lockdown.
Kante has been a key player for Chelsea since joining the club from Leicester City in 2016.
He has since played 175 times for the Blues. In the last four years, he has won one Premier League title, one FA Cup trophy, and the 2019 Europa League.
