Frank Lampard’s Chelsea rebuild got off to a bright start as the Blues came away with all three points against Brighton and Hove Albion that included Tariq Lamptey.
Jorginho gave us the lead from the penalty spot before the Seagulls equalized in the second half. Their joy was short-lived as Reece James put the Blues ahead soon after.
Kurt Zouma put the result beyond doubt as Chelsea romped home to a 3-1 win.
While the result shows we were the better team, Brighton gave a good account of themselves. One of the players who stood out was former Chelsea starlet Lamptey.
The 19-year-old spent 11 years at Chelsea before leaving the club last January. He has so far made nine appearances for the Seagulls and gave Marcos Alonso a tough time yesterday.
In fact, the youngster was at the heart of numerous Brighton’s forward drives. He looks to be on his way to fulfilling the potential he had shown. The sad part remains that he will not be doing it in Chelsea colours.
A number of fans took to Twitter to react to Lamptey’s performance. We take a look at a few of them below.
