Jake Clarke-Salter set to leave Chelsea on loan
According to Football Insider (h/t Birmingham Mail), Chelsea starlet Jake Clarke-Salter is set to leave the club on loan once again.
The 22-year-old is held in high regard at the club. However, his opportunities in the first-team are limited. He is currently behind the likes of Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori in the pecking order.
The youngster will now join Ligue 1 side Brest on loan for the 2020/21 campaign. Not only will he get to play regularly but the experience will also serve him in his development.
The loan move looks set to be finalised by the end of the week. Clarke-Salter was also a target for Championship sides Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest.
A fan favorite at St Andrews, Clarke-Salter impressed while on loan at Birmingham last season. He made 23 appearances for the Blues while scoring one goal and one assist. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Having joined Chelsea in 2006, the youngster departed to Sutton United a year later. He eventually returned to Stamford Bridge in 2008 and has been at the club since.
He came up through the Chelsea ranks and won a number of accolades with our youth team. Clarke-Salter was a part of the Chelsea youth side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
He also won two UEFA Youth League titles with Chelsea in 2015 and 2016. The youngster has also represented England at various age levels. He has so far made 33 appearances in total across different age groups. (h/t Transfermarkt)
