Chelsea willing to offer Ross Barkley in deal for Declan Rice
According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Chelsea are ready to allow Ross Barkley move to West Ham United as part of a deal to sign Declan Rice.
The 21-year-old Rice has been on the radars of Chelsea for quite some time now. A former Blues’ academy man, the Englishman made the switch to West Ham at a young age and has grown into one of the top defensive midfielders in the country.
A regular for club and country, his ability to play in midfield and at the heart of the defence would make him a huge asset for the club. And, understandably, Frank Lampard has been chasing his signature for a while now.
And as per the aforementioned report, Chelsea are willing to offer cash plus midfielder Ross Barkley in order to convince West Ham to part ways with the England international. (h/t Football.london)
Barkley hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular at the club since making the move from Everton. With the arrival of Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz, his chances are likely to take a further hit in the upcoming campaign.
So, allowing him to join West Ham could work out well for both the player and the club, in the sense that Chelsea will have to pay a lesser amount for Rice, while Barkley will move to a place where he can get more minutes.
However, West Ham boss David Moyes has been insistent that the club has no intentions of selling Rice this summer. (h/t Football.london)
