Talented Chelsea starlet closes in on season-long loan to PL rivals

Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori closes in on a season-long loan to Everton

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori is close to joining Premier League side Everton on loan.

The 22-year-old came through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge. He enjoyed loan spells away at Brighton & Hove Albion, Hull City, and Derby County before becoming a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge last season.

His performances at the beginning of last season even saw him earn a call-up to the England squad. However, injuries and a loss in form saw appearances at a premium as the season wore on.

With Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva joining the club, Tomori will have to face more competition for game time next season.

With that in mind, a loan deal could see him continue his development elsewhere. Tomori looked set to joining Ligue 1 side Rennes but that now appears to have changed.

Everton are keen to bring in the Chelsea star after missing out on Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

Everton have previously taken Kurt Zouma on loan, in 2018/19. The Frenchman enjoyed a rather successful spell at Goodison Park, eventually returning to become a regular at the Bridge. Tomori too could follow in his teammate’s shoes.
