Chelsea still keen on Declan Rice
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard still remain interested in signing a new defensive midfielder, with Declan Rice being touted as the top target.
It has been a very eventful summer window for the Blues. The club already has already made six major signings, with Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz have all arriving at the Bridge.
However, the squad overhaul is far from being complete, with manager Lampard now focusing on strengthening the defensive midfield department. (h/t The Telegraph)
And, as per the report, West Ham’s Declan Rice is Lampard’s top target for the position.
A former Chelsea academy man, Rice has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge for a while now. Since breaking into the Hammers’ first-team, the 21-year-old has established himself as a mainstay for the club, as well as the England national team.
However, a move to sign the defensive midfielder will cost us around £70m. Given that we have already spent in excess of £200m on new signings, the club will need to offload some players in order to be able to fund a move for the Englishman.

It goes without saying that the transfer window has been a huge success for us so far. Adding a new defensive midfielder and another goalkeeper would be the cherry on top of it.
Rice has shown his quality for a couple of seasons now. And given his age, he should only continue to improve from hereon. So, bringing him back to the club would be a great move.
