Agent of Chelsea star hints at exit, confirms interest from European giants

Emerson Palmieri’s agent confirms Inter Milan interest

Speaking to FCInter08 (h/t Football.london), the agent of Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has confirmed that Inter Milan are keen on signing him, while hinting that the full-back may leave the club this summer.

The 26-year-old Emerson joined Chelsea in January 2018 from Italian outfit AS Roma. However, he has never been able to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge.

In his two-and-a-half year stint at Chelsea, Emerson has made 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and setting up five more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Following the acquisition of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, his first-team prospects have taken a further hit.

Chelsea have been looking to offload him this summer and generate transfer funds. And now, his agent has spoken about the 26-year-old’s future at the club. (h/t Football.london)

“It is possible he will leave Chelsea. I have not yet spoken to the club. All I can say is that there is interest from Inter in the player. We’ll see.”

Chelsea have reportedly slapped a £26m valuation on the defender. With the club’s overall expenditure on new players set to exceed £200m, it is important that the club offloads fringe players in order to balance the books.

With Emerson not part of the team’s plans and Inter Milan interested, a deal could be arrived. However, it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri are willing to meet the £26m valuation, considering that their finances have taken a hit because of the pandemic.
