Kepa Arrizabalaga all set to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea
According to The Sun, Kepa Arrizabalaga is keen to stay at Chelsea and fight for his future.
The Spaniard has come under fire for a series of unconvincing performances last season. His inability to hold the fort saw him get dropped to the bench with reserve custodian Willy Caballero taking over.
This led to speculation that he had played his last game for the Blues. That does not appear to be the case with the 25-year-old anymore.
Kepa has repaired his relationship with Frank Lampard and is happy with the club’s defensive reinforcement so far.
The Blues have signed Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and Malang Sarr among others. While Sarr is expected to leave on loan, the other two are set to play a key role in our backline.
According to the report, Kepa believes he will be better off staying put rather than move elsewhere.
Brought in as the world’s most expensive keeper, Chelsea have struggled to offload him this summer. The Blues are keen to recoup at least £50m for a player who still has four years left on his contract.
The price combined with Kepa’s massive £150,000-a-week contract has put off potential buyers from making a move.
Chelsea have been linked to a host of keepers. This list includes the world-Jan Oblak apart from domestic talents like Dean Henderson and Nick Pope. (h/t The Sun)
Rennes star Edouard Mendy is a surprise choice who has also been linked to the Blues. Whether Kepa’s change of heart will see the club put faith in him remains to be seen.

Kepa played 45 minutes of Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Brighton and Hove Albion. Although it does little to improve his standing, it is promising to see him return to action.
It is to be seen if Lampard will go into the new campaign with the Spaniard reinstated in goal.
