English legend sends Chelsea fans into a frenzy with exciting transfer admission regarding Messi

Rio Ferdinand tweets Chelsea boss Frank lampard is in for Lionel Messi

According to The Metro, Rio Ferdinand has sent Chelsea fans into a frenzy after commenting on Frank Lampard’s interest in Lionel Messi.

The Argentine superstar sent shockwaves across the footballing world with his decision to quit Barcelona this summer. According to the report, the 33-year-old has a clause in his contract that would see him leave for a free this window.

Despite being in his 30s, Messi remains one of the top players in the world. One of the greatest players to grace the sport, his capture would be a big deal for any club.

Naturally, any whiff of the Blues being in the race for the player would elicit a tremendous response from the Chelsea faithful. It is fair to say that Ferdinand’s tweet regarding the same went down well indeed.

Chelsea have enjoyed an excellent transfer window of late. They moved quickly to bring in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner even before the window was open. The club also announced the signing of Ben Chilwell earlier.

It just proved to be an appetizer with the Blues in for more players. The likes of Kai Havertz also seem en route, while Thiago Silva seems set to have his medical at the club on Thursday.

Will Lionel Messi move to Chelsea?

The thought of adding Messi to our acquisitions would cap off what could arguably be one of the greatest transfer windows of all time, let alone just Chelsea.

Barcelona however are keen to keep their golden boy and will do everything in their powers to change his mind. Ferdinand’s comments may have been made in jest. But given the window we have had, we can afford to dream.

Barcelona are currently a team on the fall. Years of mismanagement on and off the pitch has seen them falter with respect to the other top teams on the continent.

A long and hard rebuild lies ahead of them. Chelsea, on the other hand, are adding to what was a promising 2019/20 season. Messi would be joining a club that is looking to take the next step up in its development.

For now, all this is just speculation. If it ever materialises, it would be a dream come true moment for every Chelsea fan out there.
