Boost for Chelsea as PL rivals drop interest in Blues target

Leeds United make Ben White transfer decision amidst Chelsea interest

According to the Sun, Chelsea have received a boost in their race to sign Ben White this summer.

The Brighton and Hove Albion star enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Leeds United last season. He played every minute as the Yorkshire outfit gained promotion back to the Premier League.

His performances attracted the attention of Chelsea, who are keen to revamp their defence after the disaster class last season. We face stiff competition to secure the youngster. According to an earlier report, every top-six side has approached Brighton regarding their star prospect

But Brighton are holding firm over their intention to keep hold of the 22-year-old. This has seen all three offers made by Leeds get rejected. The latest was worth £25m.

Having faced yet another rebuff, Leeds have now identified Freiburg star Robin Koch as an alternative.

Marcelo Bielsa is a fan of the 24-year-old who has won two caps for the German national team. A ball-playing defender, in the last year of his contract, Leeds are readying a £20m bid for his services.

With Leeds turning their attention elsewhere, Chelsea do have an opportunity to swoop in for White.

Our centre-back quartet of Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Andras Christensen and Fikayo Tomori have proven themselves to be inconsistent and prone to errors.

Adding a player of White’s ability could be a shrewd piece of business by the Blues. Despite his age, White has shown he has what it takes to succeed at the top level. Playing in the Championship is no mean feat given the competitiveness.
