Chelsea slap £60m price tag on midfield star wanted by European giants

Chelsea place £60m valuation on N’Golo Kante

According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Chelsea have slapped a £60m price tag on midfield mainstay N’Golo Kante, who could be sold this summer.

The diminutive Frenchman has been with Chelsea since 2016 and has been a key player throughout his time at the club. He has won a Premier League title, an FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League during his four-year stint at the Bridge.

However, the 29-year-old endured an injury-riddled 2019/20 campaign, which saw him miss quite a number of games. Kante featured in just 22 of our 38 Premier League games this past term, still managing to contribute with three goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)

And, it is now being claimed that Kante could be shown the exit doors this summer, with Chelsea using the proceeds from his transfer to fund a move for Declan Rice. (h/t Football.london)

Amidst the interest, Chelsea have now decided to place a £60m price tag on the 29-year-old, as per the report.

Given that we have already spent in excess of £100m this summer, it is important for the club to balance the books by offloading some players.

And while Kante is still an important player, his recent injury issues coupled with the options at Lampard’s disposal in midfield may well play against him.

However, the interest from both Real Madrid and Inter Milan is still at early stages. Furthermore, it remains to be seen if they are willing to match the £60m valuation as well. (h/t Football.london)
