As confirmed by the club’s official site, Chelsea have completed the signing of Leicester City star Ben Chilwell.

The left-back adds quality to what has proven to be a worrisome position for the Blues in recent months. By going for Chilwell, Chelsea have ensured Frank Lampard got his top target for the position ahead of the new season.

Chilwell is Chelsea’s third high-profile signing of the season. The Blues have already brought in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

The player expressed his joy at the move and is keen to play at Stamford Bridge as quickly as possible.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season.”

His excitement was shared by Chelsea director Marina Granovksia. She welcomed Chilwell and revealed that the player’s experience of playing at the top level will be a boost for Chelsea’s pursuit of trophies.

“He is a fantastic addition to the squad needed to challenge for honours.”

Chilwell came through the Foxes academy before going on to establish himself as one of the best in the league in what he does.

Despite being just 23, he is a vastly experienced player who has been pivotal for Leicester. Capable of contributing to both the attack and the defence, he is a well-rounded player who certainly packs a punch.

The youngster can be an extremely potent asset for Chelsea. With another key weakness now addressed, Lampard’s Chelsea are enjoying an exciting summer indeed.
