Izzy Brown joins Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan
Talented Chelsea academy product Izzy Brown has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan, the club confirmed on the official website.
The 23-year-old Brown has been with the club since 2013, having made the switch from West Bromwich Albion’s youth setup. However, he has made just one first-team appearance for Chelsea till date.
Brown has been farmed out on loan year after year, having had spells with Vitesse Arnhem, Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town, Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United and most recently Luton Town.
Brown enjoyed a fairly impressive campaign with Luton, finishing with a goal and eight assists in 28 games, helping them to safety in the Championship.
And now, he has moved to the second tier once again, linking up with Sheffield Wednesday for the 2020/21 campaign, the club has confirmed.
Brown’s departure comes in the wake of two more talented youngsters making their way out of the club.
Ike Ugbo joined Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge, after having signed a new contract with Chelsea, extending his stay till 2022. Trevor Chalobah also penned a new deal till 2023, before joining FC Lorient on a temporary spell.

Brown’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the 2020/21 season. Unlike Ugbo and Chalobah, the club has not handed him a new deal before loaning him out.
So, it may very well be so that he could be on his way out permanently once the upcoming campaign comes to an end.
More loan departures are expected to be announced in the coming days. Conor Gallagher, who enjoyed a fine stint with Swansea in 2019/20, is expected to leave on loan as well.
