Chelsea make improved bid for Kai Havertz
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are closing in on a deal for German sensation Kai Havertz.
The Bayer Leverkusen star is one of the best young players in Europe. With just two years left on his current deal, Havertz is seeking a new challenge. He aims to play in the Champions League, something the Blues can offer. (h/t The Guardian)
Leverkusen finished fifth in the Bundesliga and also crashed out of the Europa League. This has led to them missing out on Europe’s premier competition for next season.
Despite being just 21, Havertz has shown he is a consistent performer. The German ace has scored an impressive 48 goals in his last 87 games for Leverkusen.
According to journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft, Chelsea have submitted an improved bid of £76m for the player. This is just £9m less than Leverkusen’s asking price.
Agreeing upon the deal will make Havertz Chelsea’s third high-profile signing of the summer. The Blues have already brought in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
With the trio at the club, the Blues would be looking at a revamped frontline that can compete with the best. Given their age, they can also secure our attack for years to come.
The player is keen on a move and has already agreed to switch to Stamford Bridge. At this point in time, it would appear that the saga could finally be reaching a conclusion. (h/t The Guardian)

With the new season nearing, it is imperative that we complete the deal as quickly as possible. Doing so will give Havertz enough time to get used to our style of play.
