Chelsea are interested in Lewis Dunk and John Stones
According to The Mirror, Chelsea are keen on a double swoop for Brighton and Hove Albion skipper Lewis Dunk and Manchester City star John Stones.
Frank Lampard is keen to restructure his porous backline after a season that saw us concede 54 goals in the Premier League. In fact, no other top-ten side has conceded more than us all season.
This has seen the Blues linked with a number of defenders. According to the report, Chelsea will go ahead in their pursuit of Stones even if they land Dunk.
The City star has made just 24 appearances in a season where he has struggled with both fitness and form. The defender is held in high regard at Stamford Bridge and could prompt the club into making a loan offer for him this summer.
The Blues were keen on signing Stones under both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. The 26-year-old, however, moved to City in 2016 in a deal worth £47m. This at that time made him the second most expensive defender in the world. (h/t Mirror)
Stones has of late fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates. With Nathan Ake now at the club, his opportunities could be further limited. A fresh start will do him well and in Chelsea, he already has a team in need of his attributes.
The other player on Chelsea’s radar is Dunk. The 28-year-old is a Chelsea fan and looks up to club legend John Terry for inspiration. (h/t Daily Star)
The 28-year-old came through the ranks at the Brighton academy. He has made over 300 first-team appearances for the Seagulls and is well acquainted with the English game. Valued at £40million, Brighton are keen to keep hold of their defensive lynchpin.
A player who is a dominant vocal presence, he will add authority and organization to a meek Chelsea defence.

Stones and Dunk may not be the most glamorous defenders out there. But there is no question that they could be extremely effective. In signing them both, Chelsea could be on the verge of two of the shrewdest moves made this summer.
