Rudi Voller confirms Chelsea interest in Kai Havertz
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen director Rudi Voller has confirmed that Chelsea are strongly interested in signing German sensation Kai Havertz this summer.
However, he also insisted that the club will not be selling any player until their season comes to an end.
The 21-year-old Havertz has enjoyed a spectacular rise to stardom at Leverkusen in recent years. The German international has had a brilliant 2019/20 campaign, during which he has produced a return of 17 goals and 9 assists from 44 matches in all competitions.
Havertz’s exploits have seen Chelsea make him a top transfer target for the ongoing window.
And Voller has now admitted that we are strongly interested in signing the 21-year-old German. However, he insisted that the player will not be sold until the club’s Europa League campaign comes to an end. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
“Havertz? We know that Chelsea are strongly interested in him… but we’ll not sell any player before the end of the Europa League.”
Voller further insisted that if we are to sign Havertz, we will have to meet Leverkusen’s transfer fee demands and not expect any reduction in the asking price because of the pandemic. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
“If Chelsea want to sign Kai, they must pay what we ask. No lower price because of Covid.”

Bayer Leverkusen value Havertz at £90m. However, both parties are hopeful of completing a deal worth £70m plus add-ons. (h/t Sky Sports)
We have already strengthened our attack significantly with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Adding Havertz to the squad will no doubt take us to a whole new level.
