Tottenham Hotspur enter race for Said Benrahma
According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are set to enter the race for Brentford winger Said Benrahma.
The Algerian who has also caught the eye of Chelsea was central to Brentford’s bid to gain promotion to the Premier League. The Bees, however, failed to do so and fell to Fulham in the final of the Championship playoff.
With their top-flight dreams crushed, Brentford will be ruing the summer that could see them break up their famed BMW frontline.
Benrahma is keen to play in the top-flight and has informed Brentford of the same. The 24-year-old Benrahma has been a revelation since joining the Bees in 2018. He scored 17 goals and assisted 10 more from 46 matches this season.
With Pedro set to join Roma and Willian’s contract situation still unresolved, the Blues could find themselves short of two wingers. Bringing in Benrahma to address this deficiency is will be a good move by the club.
The Algerian is a dynamic player capable of grabbing a game by the scruff of the neck. Having already proven his credentials in the Championship, he looks ready to storm the Premier League.
Tottenham are not the only club standing in our way of signing the Brentford star. West Ham United, Leeds United, Aston Villa and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on Benrahma. (h/t Mirror)
According to the report, Brentford had set a £25million asking price for their star player but this could fall to £16million now. It still represents a significant profit on a player who cost just £2.7million just two years ago.
Of all the clubs in the fray, Chelsea is the only one who can offer Benrahma Champions League football.

With Chelsea set to compete on multiple fronts next season, it is imperative that the club has strength in depth.
As this season has shown, injuries to key players could derail what can be a successful season. Benrahma seems to possess all the attributes needed to succeed at the top level.
The Algerian might prove to be a shrewd investment indeed.
